Steelwood Inc. was formed in the fall of 2006 with the goal of helping non-profits, educational clients, families and corporations maximize the value of their properties to secure their financial futures. The firm’s knowledge of the land and building development process and a background in Architecture and Land Planning allows them to provide unique, seamless, turnkey solutions for clients. Firm individuals saw a need from their prior master planning clients to implement and manage their properties after the master plan had been completed.

Steelwood owner, William G. Monroe, III, is a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina and South Carolina. He was also a practicing architect and land planner for the past 35 years. Bill’s extensive experience provides valuable insight in all phases of land development projects. His working knowledge of project costs and land improvement strategies has been invaluable to Steelwood’s clients who consist of landowners, corporations, private developers, schools and colleges. Mr. Monroe is a LEED accredited professional, committed to sustainable and environmentally-friendly development solutions.
During his career, Mr. Monroe has provided planning, design guideline documents, CCR’s and design reviews for Verdae (an 1,100-acre property in Greenville, SC), Montcross (a 700-acre mixed use development in Belmont, NC), Concresere Corporate Park (a 120-acre business park in Davidson, NC) and The Park (a 600-acre mixed use development in Huntersville, NC).
He has provided real estate brokerage and consulting services, including research and analysis, property development strategies, project implementation and property management for numerous non-profit organizations and private landowners throughout the Southeast.

Mr. Monroe holds architectural registrations in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for his work with Belmont Abbey College and the Southern Benedictine Society.
